So this is happening: North America’s first cat cafe opened in New York City last week. Based on an already popular concept in Japan and Europe, you can sip on “cat’achinos” while rubbing elbows (and paws) with resident cats in need of a new home — like those resident hipsters at your regular coffee shop, only cuter. Sponsored by Purina ONE and the North Shore Animal League, customers can learn more about adopting one of North Shore’s cats, and cat care in general, while sipping on coffee and canoodling with other cat lovers.
“We hope our Cat Café is ONE small step toward a greater focus on cat health,” said Purina ONE brand manager Brian Williams. “Our goal for the Cat Café is to create a rich, interactive environment that empowers cat owners to learn more about their cat’s health and nutritional needs … Stop by, we’ll save you a seat.”
Check out Purina One’s live stream to see it in action.
I can’t say I’m surprised one of these has opened, but I’m going with WTF?
